Skidmore Designs Concert
T-shirts for the B-52's Summer Tour.
A chance backstage
meeting, a custom designed t-shirt, and a very enthusiastic fan has landed a new
“L.A.” client for a local design studio. Skidmore, Inc. has been hired by
Direct Management of Los Angeles, to create t-shirt designs for the B-52's 2003
summer tour. Direct Management represents the B-52's.

More than a year ago, Skidmore designer and die-hard B-52's fan John Latin found
himself backstage with the band while wearing a B-52's t-shirt he specifically
designed for the concert. The shirt design was greatly admired by the band
and consequently Skidmore was hired to create designs for this year's entire
summer tour.
The entire Skidmore design team was thrilled. As was Latin, who has been a
fan on the band since he was 12 years old. "This is a dream
come true. It was a thrill to present ideas after being a fan for all
these years", said Latin. The t-shirts were designed by incorporating
the bands renowned enthusiasm, props from their concerts and song lyrics. A
total of five t-shirts were selected by the band and Direct Management.
Keith Strickland, guitarist for the B-52's, said "The band is really
excited about the designs. What really struck us was the visual
communication of our words and music".
Skidmore began creating innovative and challenging design in Detroit in the
1960's and is one of the largest creative studios of its kind in the country.
The studio works with Detroit's largest advertising agencies, as well as
directly with large, medium and small clients. Today, Skidmore's
