Tired of those old, boring 'windows 95/98' or 'windows ME' start-up and shut-down screens, well now you can have 'The B's' on start-up!
start-up screen shut-down screen
The start-up/shutdown screens are easy to install. Just follow these simple steps. They are in zip files.
Download the screen you want and unzip the file (Bitmap image). The start-up screen must have a file name logo.sys and the shut-down screen must have a file name logow.sys
Copy the logo.sys file to your c:\windows folder.
Copy the logow.sys file to your c:\windows\system folder.
If any of these file names already exist in the above folders, create a new folder and copy them to it in case you want to return to the previous screens you had. In windows 95/98 theses file will already exist so please make a copy of them. In windows ME, there will be no logo.sys file but windows checks for this file name on start-up and will load it instead of the normal screen.
The shut-down screen replaces the windows 95/98 "Please wait while windows shuts down" screen, so it is not really applicable for windows ME, but you can change the file name to logos.sys and this will replace the "It is now OK to turn of your computer" screen.
